Testimony from Shawn Nghiem

November 9, 2009

Dear Mr. Kelo,

I wanted to thank you and your staff for taking care of me over the last few weeks. I am one of the coaches for the Richmond Sportsbackers Marathon Training Team (MTT). For the past few years, I've advised hundreds of runners on the multiple injuries that come with training for a marathon, but it's a different ball game when it happens to you.

I signed up for the OBX Marathon on November 8, 2008. Just a few short weeks before my marathon, I was in Salt Lake City on business and went for a run. As you can imagine, it was very hilly and on my way back to the hotel I had such an excruciating pain in my right shin that I had to stop running. I immediately went into panic mode with my marathon a few short weeks away. As soon as I got home I made an appointment with the sports doctor. After x-rays and bone scans, we determined it wasn't a stress fracture but was probably a mild case of shin splits (tendonitis).

They wrote me a prescription to see you and I called right away for an appointment. After mentioning how close my marathon was, Sissy immediately made all of my appointments. She was wonderful!

Thank you very much for your diagnosis and treatment. It was a pleasure to visit your office because I received excellent treatment and found everyone in your office was friendly. It put me at ease to be in an environment with a family run vibe. Your tech Steve was very personable and made sure I was comfortable throughout all of my treatments. Thanks to you and your staff, I was able to run my marathon in the OBX. I successfully completed the marathon and didn't feel any shin pain whatsoever.

Not only did your team make my marathon possible, but you gave me the opportunity to run with my team in the Richmond Marathon this upcoming weekend. As their coach, they depend on me to help them through their marathon and now I can fulfill that commitment pain free.

Thank you again. I will forever be grateful to you and your staff.
